Chronicles of my Commuting Experiences

Okay. While I was riding a jeepney to go to work this morning, an idea popped up in my mind. I have decided I want to blog about the things I am experiencing everyday while commuting to and from work. I was about to create a new blog but decided I'll just use this one. So, I am currently staying with my parents in San Mateo, Rizal and I am working in Libis, Quezon City. I have to travel at least 1.5 hours everyday (can be lesser depending on traffic flow). I ride the jeepney or FX.

To start off. I would like to tell you guys what happened on my way to work yesterday. Along Concepcion in Marikina City, apparently there was an accident involving a motorcycle and a bicycle. This happened in front of a certain gas station (haven't noted the name.. hehe). Well, the bicycle riders were husband and wife (it seems) and the wife's face was covered with blood. I noticed no one's helping the woman at all. Know why? Because everyone's busy beating the guy riding the motorcycle. So instead of taking the woman to the nearest hospital, people are busy trying to hurt the poor guy. Some are just staring and standing by to know what's happening. Didn't they realize the woman needed help? Oh, some people!

On the other hand, this morning while riding the jeepney bound to Marikina again, two college students (apparently sweethearts) were among my fellow passengers. And to my shock, the guy kept on kissing the girl! Well, he kissed her on the shoulders and many times on the cheeks. Not so bulgar compared to real smooching I know but hey, they're on a public transportation with so many people around them. I might sound so naive, pardon, but I think you just don't do it like that in a PUJ full of passengers and in broad daylight! Oh well, I practically grew up in the province and I'm not used to seeing these kind of scenes. Maybe, that's why I'm overreacting. Or am I?

110th Independence!

The Philippines' 110th Independence Day is being celebrated throughout the country today. I would like to greet my fellow Filipinos all over the world a "Happy Independence Day!" (though I'm not sure if the greetings is appropriate... haha).

Let's congratulate ourselves for keeping our independence for several decades now. And of course, we owe it to the brave Filipinos who fought hard just to free our country from foreign invaders and conquerors. We have to thank them that we are now living in a free country and never got the chance to experience living in chaos and fear... so unlike their times when they always need to hide and run for their lives. We have to thank not just the famous heroes that we have but also the unsung heroes who gave their lives just to free the land of their children.

And now, though we constantly see and experience instabilities in politics and economics, let us help each other in preserving the liberty that we have. Pilipinas, Mabuhay Ka!

My Book Collections!

Yey! My spy novels collections are getting big. And i would like to take this post as a chance to thank Ate Precy for giving me her Bourne Identity book. Actually, we exchanged books. I gave her my other copy of Tom Clancy's Op-Center because i have two of them. In exchange, she gave me the "Identity". I am very much thankful because i couldn't find a copy of that novel.

The AK-47!

No, I'm not going to talk about the Russian's Kalashnikov assault rifle (though I must admit, I am really interested on that stuff). This blog is all about Utah Jazz's small forward, Andrei Kirilenko (pronounced as KEER-uh-LENK-oh) who is popularly known as AK-47.

Hmmm... when i first heard from my husband that Andrei's been nicknamed that, i thought "I wonder why?". Then, my husband explained to me that Andrei is a Russian, bears the number 47 and his initials are AK. Too much of a coincidence, maybe? Haha. So that's why he's called AK-47...

Andrei Kirilenko (AK) + #47 = AK-47!

Let me tell you about the small things that I know about this guy... Well, he was born in Izhevsk and grew up in St. Petersburg. His birthday is February 18, 1981. He was actually the youngest European player to be ever drafted in the National Basketball Association (NBA) at the age of 18 on June 1999. Utah Jazz then got the 24th pick and selected him.

And now, the AK-47 is among the most valuable assets that Utah Jazz has. He's now averaging 11 PPG (points per game), 4.7 RPG (rebounds per game) and 4 APG (assists per game). And did you know how much this young man is earning? Oh well, his 2008 contract is worth $13,735,000 (more than half a billion pesos.. hehe).

Anyway, Jazz is not much among my favorite NBA teams. I just got interested with Kirilenko's nickname. Perhaps that's because he's called AK-47, a word i often encounter with my spy novels. :)

*I lifted this post from my other blog, War of Hearts and Minds. Hmmm... nothing... I'm just glad about this post...*

Salute to Workers

I just like to greet every worker out there with a "Happy and Peaceful Labor Day"! I hope that the Philippine government will finally hear out what the Filipinos are all asking for; wage hike and additional benefits.

Yeah, i guess we all need the benefits and the additional wages. What with the surging prices of every merchandise in the market. What with all the never-ending price hikes of fuel and lpg. What with the unbelievable prices of basic commodities today. I think we, workers from both public and private entities, need the pay raise and additional benefits badly. And if fate let this post reach the ears and eyes of our government, I'd like to say that WE, FILIPINOS NEED THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE...
